Our licorice roots are sourced from standardized arid ecological medicinal planting bases in Inner Mongolia, Gansu and Ningxia, premium genuine producing areas. Fresh roots are harvested in spring and autumn, cleaned thoroughly to remove soil and fine fibrous roots, trimmed and low-temperature dehydrated under strict herbal processing standards.
Finished licorice roots are long cylindrical, straight or slightly twisted, with varying thickness. Outer surface reddish brown to grayish brown, covered with distinct longitudinal wrinkles and lenticels; texture solid, heavy and powdery. Cross-section is yellowish-white, featuring clear cambium ring and radial striped texture. Slight herbal aroma, remarkably sweet and unique lasting taste. Free of mildew, wormholes, hollow cores, rotten fragments, bleaching and sulfur fumigation. Abundant in glycyrrhizic acid, liquiritin, flavonoids and amino acids. Widely applied in traditional herbal formulas, throat-soothing herbal tea, cough relief preparations, natural food sweeteners, oral care products and plant active ingredient extraction.
