Premium Dried Baikal Skullcap Root
Our baikal skullcap roots are sourced from standardized medicinal planting bases in Hebei, Shanxi and Inner Mongolia. Fresh roots are harvested in spring and autumn, thoroughly cleaned of soil and fibrous roots, trimmed and low-temperature dehydrated in accordance with strict herbal processing standards.
Finished baikal skullcap roots are long cylindrical, mostly twisted, 8–25 cm long. Surface yellowish-brown to deep brown, marked with dense vertical wrinkles and scattered tuberculate scars; texture hard and crisp, easy to break. Cross-section is yellow, with a purplish-brown central pith for aged roots. Distinct mild herbal fragrance, extremely bitter taste. Free of mildew, rot, hollow cores, worm damage, bleaching and sulfur fumigation. Rich in baicalin, baicalein, flavonoids and amino acids. Widely used in traditional Chinese medicine to clear heat, dry dampness, purge fire, detoxify, stop bleeding and prevent miscarriage.
